Aram Tahmasebi, also known as “Raawii,” was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1991, into a family deeply rooted in the arts. His father is a renowned musician and researcher in Iranian classical music, and his mother is a retired set and fashion designer.

Aram’s journey into the art world started with a strong passion for music, which continues to shape his creativity today. Initially focusing on collecting and curating music with a narrative emphasis, his interests shifted toward cinema and visual storytelling during high school.

He pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema, specializing in Cinematography, and later earned a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Art University of Tehran. Active in cinema, photography, and DJing under the alias “Raawii” (meaning storyteller in Persian), Aram explores themes like human relationships, narrative storytelling, the blend of reality and fantasy, and the passage of time in his personal photography projects.

Aram Tahmasebi has become a versatile freelance photographer and cinematographer, excelling in both digital and analog mediums. He co-founded DarStudio, the first independent analog photography studio in Tehran, known for its expertise in film development and hand-rolled film production, making a significant contribution to the legacy of analog photography in the region.
